DGE Group, a consultancy firm specializing in sustainable environmental advisory, is pleased to announce that, at an extraordinary general meeting held on October 1, 2023, Flemming Besenbacher has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of the company. With his impressive career in the fields of science and business, Flemming Besenbacher brings unique expertise and leadership skills to DGE Group.

Flemming Besenbacher previously served as the Chairman of the Board for Carlsberg Group and Foundation from 2012 to 2022. Additionally, he holds the position of Professor Emeritus in Nanoscience at Aarhus University and has a remarkable background as the founder and former director of the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) from 2002 to 2012. He is internationally recognized as a leading researcher in the field of nanoscience, with over 760 scientific articles published in international journals. With approximately 56,900 citations and an H-index of 119, he ranks as one of the most cited Danish researchers.
Flemming Besenbacher has played significant roles in sustainability and circular economy, including serving as the Chairman of the Government’s Advisory Board for Circular Economy, appointed by the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food. He was honored with the Fortune Award for Circular Economy Leadership by The Circulars at the World Economic Forum Meeting in Davos in 2019.
Presently, Flemming Besenbacher holds positions such as Chairman of Aarhus Vand and UNLEASH.org, as well as Vice Chairman of Water Valley Denmark.
